Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ:SUNW) today announced that Egghead Software is electronically selling the Java(TM) WorkShop(TM) product, the only tool that supports development for the Internet on the Internet, on its Digital Direct web site.
Egghead is the first national retail software chain to offer Java WorkShop via true electronic commerce. Java WorkShop can now be electronically downloaded and purchased at http://www.egghead.com. In addition, consumers can choose a try-and-buy option and pay within 30 days of download.
Java WorkShop is available at an introductory promotional price of $99; an additional discount is available from Egghead's CUE frequent shopper program. This promotional price is valid through Dec. 31, 1996 and includes a one-year Sun(TM) Software Subscription(SM).
"Java WorkShop and electronic commerce are perfectly suited to Egghead's customers," said Larry Weber, Sun's vice president and general manager, WorkShop group.
