Spyglass Report Provides Detailed Examples Of Its Vision

February 5, 1997

Spyglass Inc. (Nasdaq: SPYG) announced today the release of its 1996 annual report entitled, "Marian and George WIRED: At home, on the road and at the office." The report features the story of Marian and George WIRED, an everyday couple who encounter Spyglass technology in a variety of consumer, business and industrial devices to access the resources of the Internet without the need of a personal computer.

"We incorporated the story of Marian and George WIRED into our annual report to show that the Internet is quickly becoming available to anyone, anywhere, at anytime," said Gary Vilchick, Spyglass executive vice president and CFO. "With our Web-enabling products and services, everyday devices will enrich all of our lives and bring the Web to the 97 percent of the world's population without personal computers."

The first part of the annual report describes Marian and George at home, at work and on the road with colorful photographs of moments in their lives where they are accessing the Web through various devices.

First, Mr. and Mrs. WIRED are seen in their living room enjoying the features of their Web-enabled TV, which helps them select vacation destinations and assists their grandchildren with research for homework assignments. Marian and George also are photographed at a gas pump accessing the Internet to get directions to their daughter's new house. Finally, Marian is shown at work contacting the copy service center to have a broken copier fixed over the Internet. With Web-enabled technology, the service center can remotely log on to Marian's copier, run a diagnostic test, and identify the problem with the copier before they dispatch a technician.

The annual report also describes a world in which business people will use cell phones to download airline information from the back seat of a taxi and car navigation systems will provide just-in-time directions and traffic information to drivers.
