Haht Software Announces NCA Alliance With Oracle January 17, 1997
Haht Software, a leading supplier of application development tools for the World Wide Web, today announced support for Oracle's Network Computing Architecture. Haht and Oracle will work closely to enable Haht's highly scalable Internet deployment platform, the Hahtsite Application Server, to function as a cartridge in Network Computing Architecture. Oracle customers will be able to develop new or extend existing applications onto the Internet using the Hahtsite Integrated Development Environment. Participation in Oracle's Network Computing Architecture will offer Hahtsite applications access to any services available via the Object Request Broker built into Oracle WebServer. "Haht Software's all-in-one Internet development system Hahtsite, embodies a vision of openness and scalability that makes it a natural choice for organisations that wish to take advantage of all of the Internet's benefits without having to reinvent their IT infrastructure," said Mark Jarvis, vice president, Oracle Server Marketing. "Working together with Haht will allow our customers to easily extend their technology investments onto the Web and provide them with a comprehensive, visual approach to building new, complementary business logic on the Web." "Working in association with Oracle will help to deliver even greater scalability and openness to Hahtsite customers," said David Whitehead, managing director at Haht Software (UK). "Network Computing Architecture is a natural enhancement of Haht's strategy for extending and expanding enterprise-class core business applications onto the Internet. The integration of the Oracle Web Request Broker API with the Hahtsite Application Server platform allows our customers to use Network Computing Architecture's high-performance alternative to CGI. And, as Hahtsite users expand the functionality of their web-based applications, they can tap the broad range of services that will be available through Network Computing Architecture cartridges." About Hahtsite The Hahtsite system is the only fully integrated environment for developing, deploying and maintaining scalable, open and secure, real-world web applications. Hahtsite software is designed to both extend and expand current core business applications directly onto the Internet. With important recent endorsements from other major software vendors including, SAP and Computer Associates, Hahtsite has become the tool of choice for web-enabling existing client/server applications and databases. Hahtsite is particularly designed for collaborative development. With Hahtsite, content providers, application developers, database administrators, and webmasters can work cooperatively, building and deploying Internet and intranet applications within a common framework. Hahtsite includes a complete development language that is syntax compatible with Microsoft Visual Basic& and supports application deployment to Windows NT and leading UNIX server platforms. This means that the more than four million people who know Visual Basic can put their existing skills to work immediately building interactive web applications. The integration of the Hahtsite Application Server with Oracle's Network Computing Architecture allows Oracle customers to build dynamic, server-side web applications in Hahtsite's VB- compatible language. Hahtsite also supports defacto standards such as Java, browser plug-ins and ActiveX objects, allowing organisations to leverage new technologies while protecting current technology investments. About Network Computing Architecture Network Computing Architecture is a common set of technologies that will enable all PCs, network computers and other client devices to work with all web servers, database servers and application servers over any network.
