Media Leaders Will Meet To Debate Mass Media Future January 8, 1997
New media meets old media as the leaders of AOL, PointCast, WebTV and Microsoft face Jupiter Communications' annual gathering of the media elite in New York City for Consumer Online Services IV (COS IV). Legendary MTV founder Bob Pittman, now CEO of America Online Networks, will make one of his first appearances before an exclusive audience of over 750 top executives from mainstream content and entertainment industries. To be held at the New York Sheraton Hotel & Towers, March 3-5, 1997, COS IV focuses exclusively on the consumer online services industry. "At COS IV, we drill down into the real world strategies of the world's largest diversified media players," said Adam Schoenfeld, Vice President at Jupiter Communications. "This conference is strategically focused on Internet strategies for mainstream media. The panels get to the heart of what every newspaper, magazine, cable network, broadcast station, movie studio or other content player needs to know about building interactive products and services for consumers." The pre-conference seminar on March 3rd, entitled, Consumer Internet Appliance Outlook, will focus on issues concerning new Internet access devices for the home. 1996 saw the emergence of real consumer interactive appliances that are challenging the PC on its home turf. The pioneers of the new device revolution will be on hand to debate whether Internet appliances and set-top boxes will spearhead the real consumerization of new media, or whether these devices are doomed to the scrap heap along with the early PDAs and pen-based computing. The three-day event, featuring over 750 attendees and more than 70 exhibitors, as well as top-level executives as speakers, offers ample opportunity to meet, mingle and discuss business. Confirmed speakers to date include: Robert Pittman, AOL Online Networks The registration fee for attending Consumer Online Services IV, plus the Consumer Internet Appliance Outlook pre-conference seminar at the New York Sheraton Hotel & Towers, is $1,490.
