Inergy Online To Offer "Website For TV" To All Sony WebTV Customers

September 4, 1997

Inergy Online today announced that free, one-year subscriptions to WebSite for TV, the easy and fun means for consumers to create a Web site from the comfort of the living room, will soon be made available to purchasers of any Sony WebTV Internet terminal. WebSite for TV transforms any Web TV appliance from a view-only product into a fully interactive tool for communication and creative expression.

WebSite for TV answers the need for an easy, intuitive means for consumers to showcase hobbies, display family photographs, offer items for sale, and connect with new and old friends on the Web. Designed specifically for TV display, WebSite for TV is the first product to offer consumers the ability to create Web sites directly online using non-PC Internet devices.

"With a Sony WebTV Internet terminal and Inergy's WebSite for TV, the consumer's Internet experience is optimized," said Greg Gudorf, Director of Digital Media Product Marketing at Sony Electronics. "Now our customers can participate fully in the Web community by creating their own Web sites."

"We are pleased to offer the first truly simple and fun way to create a personal or family Web site with the TV," said Charles Belanger, President of Inergy Online. "Together with Sony we can offer consumers a dramatically enhanced experience of the Web."

WebSite for TV exploits Inergy's proprietary server-sided technology to deliver a simple, easy to use, and fun means for anyone-even kids--to create a Web site in minutes. WebSite for TV's unique QuickTouch design tools instantly translate ideas into dynamic Web sites. Design templates and an interactive, create-as-you-go tutorial provide assistance every step of the way.

Inergy Online is supplying essential services to the emerging consumer Internet market, offering an Internet operating system and suite of integrated software applications that enable the entire range of PC and non-PC Internet access devices. Web-enabled TVs alone are expected to number 12 million by 2001, according to New York market research firm IDC/Link. Inergy is working closely with other participants in the non-PC Internet access market, including developers of Web services, content providers, cable companies, and manufacturers of Internet-ready TVs, set-top boxes, and screen phones.
