Oracle OpenWorld '97 Is Expected To Be The Largest Network Computing Show In History

Leveraging Oracle OpenWorld '97 as a platform to showcase the synergy between Java and Oracle Corp.'s Network Computing Architecture™, Sun Microsystems, Inc. announced today its role as a Platinum Sponsor of Oracle OpenWorld '97 (OOW) at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

OOW '97, scheduled for September 21-26, is expected to be the largest network computing show in history, as well as Oracle's biggest event ever. Sun is providing Ultra Servers to support the on-site network backbone.

"Sun Day" kicks off OOW on September 22, focusing on helping customers develop, deploy and manage Java-enabled Oracle solutions throughout the enterprise. Sun's chairman and CEO, Scott McNealy will begin the full day of announcements, presentations and demonstrations with his keynote speech, "100 % Java in a Networked Computing Legacy World."

Senior Sun executives will speak on Oracle(R) core competencies including: 100% pure Java in existing application development environments; deploying mission-critical, Java-based Oracle Applications™ in a thin-client environment; implementing and supporting distributed Internet based enterprise solutions; safe, scalable and manageable Web-based data warehouses; and architectural considerations for large scale RDBMS environments. Sun Day will feature engineering and development technical experts in a number of core Oracle competencies including: sizing and distributing Oracle databases, building safe e-commerce solutions, developing and deploying 100% pure Java solutions and tips and techniques on how to deploy thin-client solutions in the enterprise. Key demos will focus on new and improved worldwide implementation for professional services, workgroup solutions for data marts, and Sun's enterprise solutions on Oracle.
