New Course From Learning Tree Quickly Transitions C++ Programmers To Java October 2, 1997
Learning Tree International today announced the release of "Java for C++ Programmers," a new hands-on course that quickly transitions C++ programmers to Java. This four-day course kicks off with a rapid overview of Java features as they compare to C++, and then moves into practical, hands-on work with Java's standard API. Exercises give hands-on experience in porting C++ code to Java, creating Java applets for use within Web applications, writing threaded applications for speed and efficiency, and calling native C and C++ code from within Java. "Many C++ programmers are eager to make use of Java's platform-independence and support for object technology," said Dr. Alan B. Salisbury, president of Reston, VA-based Learning Tree International. "This course uses their existing C++ knowledge as a springboard to help them rapidly obtain the skills they need to work effectively in Java. Participants gain a solid understanding of Java's syntax, and learn how to take advantage of the major APIs and class libraries," he continued. "Java for C++ Programmers" joins Learning Tree's existing hands-on Java curriculum, which includes the introductory "Java Programming," as well as "Java for Enterprise Systems Development," "Java for Multimedia Applications Development," and "Visual J++." Tuition for the four-day, hands-on "Java for C++ Programmers" is $2095. The course is being offered nationwide at Learning Tree education centers on a regularly scheduled basis beginning in November. Initial courses will be held in the following cities: -- November 4-7, 1997 in Washington, DC -- November 18-21, 1997 in Santa Clara, CA -- December 9-12, 1997 in Washington, DC -- January 6-9, 1998 in Boston, MA Since its founding in 1974, Learning Tree International (NASDAQ: LTRE) has trained more than 700,000 information technology professionals in intensive hands-on, instructor-led courses.
