Inergy Online Announces Suite Of Zero-Client Software Applications Driven by First Internet Operating System

September 26, 1997

Inergy Online today announced its Internet operating system, IOS2000, and a suite of integrated software services for the entire range of Internet access devices. With this new, patents-pending technology, users can conveniently access easy to use, completely intuitive services with any Internet appliance at home, at work, at school, or while traveling.

The emergence of non-PC Internet access devices signals a fresh wave of Internet participants, consumers whose email and other Web services are delivered to Web-enabled TVs, set-top boxes, screen phones and other Internet appliances. Research firm Dataquest predicts sales of Internet appliances will equal or surpass PCs in the next five years. By 2000, Jupiter Communications projects that 16 percent of Internet access will be from non-PC devices.

IOS2000: The First Internet Operating System

Inergy's unique Internet operating system, IOS2000, coordinates a powerful suite of software applications, enables printing, and allows users to manage text and multimedia files as well as faxes and voice mail directly on the Web.

"With the introduction of Inergy's operating system, IOS2000, we've cut the final cord that bound users to a hard drive," commented Charles Belanger, President of Inergy Online. "For makers of Internet devices, IOS2000 presents a powerful opportunity. Now, any Internet device can manipulate an entire suite of applications with absolutely zero impact on device memory."

An Integrated Suite of Server-Sided Software Applications Inergy has developed a powerful combination of applications and resources, all completely integrated and accessed directly on the Web with any Internet device. The expanding suite of products and services currently includes:

WebDesk2000: a personalized, Web-based interface, offering essential subscriber information including day/date/time and current resources, as well as direct access to all Inergy applications

WebSite for TV: an easy to use, all-in-one service that enables anyone to create and publish a dynamic Web site-in minutes-from the TV or any other Internet-connected device

Email America: a feature-rich, advertising-free Internet mail service offering global accessibility and a completely integrated Contact Manager

WebWriter: the first Internet word processor, enabling easy, fast document creation and editing from any Internet device

File Manager: an online storage and management resource for documents and multimedia files associated with WebWriter, WebSite, and Email America

Contact Manager: an always available interactive online manager for personal and professional contact information, including addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, URLs, and photographs

SpellChecker and Thesaurus: handy online resources available to help polish any communication

Availability of Inergy Products and Services

Inergy Online is supplying essential services to the emerging consumer Internet market, working closely with other participants in the non-PC Internet access market, including developers of Web services, content providers, cable companies, and manufacturers of Internet-ready TVs, set-top boxes, and screen phones. The first of Inergy's appliance manufacturer partnership agreements was announced recently. Additional partnership announcements are forthcoming.

As announced earlier this month, Sony will offer Inergy's WebSite for TV free for one year to all Sony WebTV Internet terminal customers.

WebSite for TV answers the need for an easy, intuitive means for consumers to showcase hobbies, display family photographs, offer items for sale, and connect with new and old friends on the Web. Designed specifically for TV display, WebSite for TV is the first product to offer consumers the ability to create Web sites directly online using non-PC Internet devices.

"With a Sony WebTV Internet terminal and Inergy's WebSite for TV, the consumer's Internet experience is optimized," said Greg Gudorf, Director of Digital Media Product Marketing at Sony Electronics. "Now our customers can participate fully in the Web community by creating their own Web sites."
