Curtis Mathes Deploys Interactive Services with Integrated Cisco Solution August 15, 1997
Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) has announced that Dallas-based Curtis Mathes (NASDAQ:CRTM) has chosen a suite of Cisco products, including the Cisco AS5200 universal access server, for the delivery of uniView™ Internet, online, telephone and entertainment services to its customers via their home television sets. Curtis Mathes and Cisco are working together to streamline uniView access services through delivery of an end-to-end scalable solution that integrates high-performance dial access, routing, switching and security platforms with Cisco IOS™ software features that enable a host of value-added network services. The flexibility and scalability of this solution combined with industry-leading service and support programs enable Curtis Mathes to decrease operating costs and assure maximum service reliability to its customers. The Cisco AS5200 universal access server aggregates incoming customer calls and routes inquiries to their appropriate destinations. A Cisco PIX™ firewall ensures secure Internet access, and a CiscoSecure AAA security server authenticates subscribers dialing in. The Curtis Mathes Xpressway network made up of Cisco routers and Catalyst switches enables customers to surf the Web, talk on the phone, send and receive faxes and e-mail, access TV program guides and program their VCRs.
