Netmosphere Licenses Collaboration And Workflow Technology To Corel - Java-based Thin-Client Components To Support Enterprise "GroupWebWare" Concept August 29, 1997
Netmosphere, Inc., a pioneer in the Intranet productivity software market, today announced that Corel Corporation will license from Netmosphere key components of its real-time collaboration and task management software technology for the new enterprise-focused suite, code-named "Alta." Netmosphere's ActionPlan™ and Java™ Application Server (JAS) software uses push-pull technology to communicate status, plan changes, and task-related comments immediately to a distributed team. "With our technology, Corel now has the Java-based interactive collaboration features it wants for its new Alta product," said Heather Rose, Netmosphere president and CEO. "This licensing agreement supports our strategy to bring real-time project coordination to the enterprise." "As this agreement demonstrates, Corel is completely committed to carrying out its aggressive Java-based product strategy," said Paul Skillen, Corel Corporation's vice president of Engineering. "Corel's `Alta' will provide an improved platform for information handling and knowledge management inside and outside the organization. Netmosphere's ActionPlan and Java Application Server (JAS) software is a key component in that platform." "We are very pleased to see today's announcement from Netmosphere and Corel," said George Paolini, director of corporate marketing at Sun Microsystems' JavaSoft division. "This agreement reinforces the power of Java for enterprise solutions." ActionPlan, certified 100% Pure Java, enables distributed workgroups to plan and effectively execute complex business projects. By using Java and the JAS technology, ActionPlan offers a level of information sharing across the enterprise found previously only in client/server products.
