March 17, 1999
On March 15, 1999 a small start-up company quietly launched THE killer app. What is it? It is a product called VMWare. What does it do? It allows you to run multiple computer operating systems as if they were applications. Does it work? The first beta version that we downloaded installed effortlessly, and runs flawlessly. What is so cool about it? VMware allows you the FREEDOM to choose the stability of Linux without losing access to the wide variety of applications available for other platforms. Where do you get it? http://www.vmware.com Here's a screenshot of a CD-based Windows application running in VMWare on Red Hat Linux 5.2. Click here for more.
Note: VMWare is a beta product. There is some potential risk in using "beta version" software. But this isn't a Microsoft beta product so you probably won't have any problems with it. |
