Network Computing Devices Inc. Announces Participation In Digital's AllConnect Program April 22, 1997
Network Computing Devices Inc. (NASDAQ:NCDI) today announced its support of the Digital Equipment Corporation AllConnect Program, through which NCD will offer its software products that link UNIX and Windows NT environments. These products include WinCenter Pro, multi-user NT server software that permits access to Windows applications on NT servers from any desktop, and PC-Xware, software that allows a PC to access UNIX applications over the network. Participation in the AllConnect Program will allow NCD to gain visibility among Digital customers and to benefit from Digital's worldwide sales force. In announcing NCD's commitment, Lorraine Hariton, senior vice president of marketing and business development, said, "we commend Digital's foresight in recognizing the need for inter-operability between UNIX and NT and the ongoing role it will play in most corporate computing environments for the foreseeable future." She continued, "NCD is committed to providing software and hardware products that will allow every desktop to access resources across the corporate intranet and the Internet. Digital's introduction of the AllConnect Program is a recognition of that need." "The AllConnect program is designed to provide software tools to Digital customers that will allow seamless access to both UNIX and Windows NT resources from every desktop," said Nancy Epple, Digital vice president of the enterprise solutions initiative. "NCD's WinCenter Pro and PC-Xware are leading examples of products that enable this access." WinCenter Pro application server software allows multiple PCs, UNIX workstations, NCD Explora and HMX Universal Network Computers and other network computers to access Windows NT applications on a server. UNIX applications are accessible from the same Windows program manager screen. PC-Xware is industry-leading PC software that enables the display of UNIX applications running on a network server on Windows 3.1, 95 and NT desktops.
