The Age Of The NC: CNBC To Air Network Computer Series

Beginning June 7, 1997, CNBC will begin running a series of programs that explores the vast potential of the Network Computer. Titled "The Age of the NC - The New Enterprise Computing Paradigm," the series will focus on one of the hottest topics on the minds of technologically savvy businesses today: the possibilities, the realities, and the opportunity surrounding the Network Computer.

The programs, which are designed to serve as the ultimate information source on the NC, will be hosted by Mark Bunting (The Computer Man, Bunting's Window to the World of Computers) and include network computing experts from IBM, Sun Microsystems, NCI and Lotus Development. The segments will air on four consecutive Saturdays at 4:30 p.m. EST -- June 7, 14, 21 and 28.

Each week, the program will begin with a roundtable discussion about relevant network computing issues, and will also include sound bytes from well-known industry leaders, customer testimonials and hands-on demonstrations of how the Network Computer will benefit businesses and endusers. Participants in the roundtable include:

Phil Hester, Senior VP, IBM Network Computer Division Frank Elliot, VP of Worldwide Marketing Operations, IBM Storage Peter Cohn, Senior Marketing Manager, Lotus Jeff Menz, Director of Client Product Marketing, NCI Steve Tirado, Director of Marketing Programs, Java Desktop Management

The discussion will focus on a number of topics relating to the Network Computer, including the origins of the NC and the importance of creating universal standards for network computers. It will also touch on the cost advantages, accelerated deployment of applications, and other key benefits of the Network Computer for businesses and end users.

An audio feed of "The Age of the NC - The New Enterprise Computing Paradigm" will be simultaneously aired over the Web via AudioNet for those who wish to follow these discussions over the Net.
