May 29, 1997

InteGraphics Systems (IGS) today announced that the Company is providing multimedia accelerators for Sun Microsystems' JavaStation(TM) family of network computers. The chips will enable JavaStations to display high resolution graphics and video across enterprise intranets and the Internet.

The IGS product features a 64-bit graphical user interface, 200 megahertz RAMDAC and clock synthesizer. The field proven product is part of a growing family of IGS multimedia accelerators, which will assure continuing support for later Java(TM) announcements.

The IGS multimedia accelerator extends the potential for the JavaStation network computer's rapid acceptance. The IGS chip can be used to display graphics and capture and playback video over the Net. It can support most screen resolutions with 16/24/32-bit color images, and it can also handle the mixed color depth of graphics and video.

"We are very encouraged in the pursuit of our corporate goals by being associated with the JavaStation product line," said Mike Raghavan, IGS senior marketing director. "Our plans for future multimedia products for NC/SetTops are already accelerating. We are committed to be the leader in providing products for this market, with the right mix of price, features and support that makes customers out of such respected companies as Sun Microsystems."

"Sun is striving to significantly reduce the cost of network computing with its JavaStation network computer," said Jim Dunlay, director of engineering, Java Desktop. "In addition, our customers require a high performance, high quality display subsystem. The IGS multimedia accelerators give us the best balance of capability, performance and cost for the JavaStation class of computer."

IGS was formed in 1993 to develop multimedia component solutions for the emerging SetTop, NetPC, NC, Internet Appliance/TV markets, in addition to the PC TV markets. IGS intends to become a leading supplier of highly integrated multimedia and core logic component solutions in applications where TV is either the primary or secondary display.
