Wyse Opens Windows For Bay Users

May 1, 1997

Wyse Technology Inc.'s Winterm 2000 network computers may get a little easier to deploy and manage across the enterprise.

The company announced today that Eversys Corp. will integrate its S3000 ASM (Application Server Module) with Bay Networks Inc.'s System 3000 network hub. The goal is centralized deployment of Windows applications on Wyse thin clients within a site using Bay networking equipment.

The ASM, which includes Citrix Systems Inc.'s WinFrame software for remote Windows access, can support up to 15 Wyse clients. Multiple ASM modules can support many more Wyse clients.

For current Bay customers, today's announcement means access to Windows and Internet data, rather than just to legacy Unix systems, officials said.

It is unclear, however, if the Bay-Eversys product integration will benefit other thin clients. Wyse is only one of several companies whose clients are based on WinFrame technology.

Also unclear is how the products will be packaged and if Wyse has the rights to sell the complete solution as part of its Winterm bundle.
