Bitstream Inc. has announced Bitstream® Font Navigator™ 3 SDK, a new software developers kit which provides Windows® developers with a tool to bring advanced font management functionality to their applications. With Font Navigator 3 SDK, Windows applications can enumerate, install, remove and manage TrueType® and PostScript™ Type 1 fonts. Developers can also use the SDK to assist with font matching and substitution schemes.

The SDK consists of a Windows Dynamic Link Library (DLL) written to the Win32 spec, a comprehensive Application Programming Interface (API) specification, a "how-to-implement" tutorial complete with sample code and help files, and the popular Font Navigator 3 application. The API is fully compatible with Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.x and can be used by multiple applications simultaneously. Corel Corporation (NASDAQ: COSFF) is the first to license Font Navigator 3 SDK for incorporation in CorelDRAW™ 8.

In August, Bitstream released Font Navigator 3, which is currently available directly from Bitstream and resellers in Europe. With Font Navigator 3, Windows users can easily install, remove, sort, group, explore, and manage TrueType and Type 1 fonts. Users can also assign font groups to specific applications and documents.
